We at FutureGames are happy to share the news that our students game project Unmechanical is nominated for the Game of the Year-award, and that Zap the Bugs is nominated for the Best Innovation-award at the Swedish Game Awards 2011!
On the 3rd of June 2011 Swedish Game Awards invite you to this years Swedish Game Awards Grand Finale and their expo at Stockholm Central Station. There you will be able to browse the various nominated entries and mingle with SGA’s partners.
Following the expo there will be a prize-ceremony, an exclusive dinner and mingle-time with members of the industry at Berns in Stockholm.
“I’m happy the world will be able to see how talented our students are. They really deserve all the exposure they can get with Unmechanical, especially based on the fact they made it during a 4 week game project with no previous knowledge in making games.” says Almir Listo, Project Manager at FutureGames.
Unmechanical is a 2D puzzle game. Captured by a creature unknown, you must now find your way through the weird and horrid underground to find your way back home to your family. Solve mindbending puzzles using very easy controls to navigate your little character. Use your environment to your advantage by manipulating objects with your powerful tractor beam
Zap the Bugs is a Tower Defense game based on the Windows Surface platform. Defend your base in a unique way together with your mates. This game is played on the Microsoft Surface only using physical pieces. Social gaming at its best! Watch the trailer here.
“We’re very happy to see both Zap the Bugs and Unmechanical in the finals. I hope future students see what kind of stuff you can do at FutureGames and that future employers take note of our amazing talent” says Almir.
We wish our students Joachim Holmér, Sandra Scholz, Sofia Jakobsson, Marko Permanto, Markus Andersson, André Axrud and our alumni-students Victor Rathsmann and Patrick Berglind the best of luck in the competition. God speed!
