2 weeks into the education, first game project completed
Two weeks ago the Futuregames -10 students began studying here at Futuregames Academy. The students, new to the games industry and what it is, they took the challenge head-on. Now, two weeks later the students have just completed their first game projects – board games.
Head of Game design Åsa Roos gave the students the briefing and the theme of the one week long project that new students always have to participate in when starting Futuregames Academy. This year the theme was Suggestion – the psychological process by which one person guides the thoughts, feelings, or behaviour of another. Each group then had to create a game with this theme in mind.
Late last week the students presented the games for the judges, four representatives from the swedish game industry. The judges had an intense four hour long playthrough and had to choose a winner – in the end, group 3 won! An honorary mention went out to Group 4 with their incredibly funny GTA/The Apprentice inspired board game.
Group 3 won with their psychadelic game “The Cube” in which the board that you play on is a 3-dimensional cube on which players can roam freely on because of an ingenious magnet design. As a prize the winners were awarded the classic boardgame Carcassonne as well as an invitation to come to world renowned game developer DICE EA for a peek into the offices followed by a paid lunch with one of the producers at DICE EA.
