New Head of Educations for Futuregames: Mattias Escudero Liljeqvist
It is now August and time to get back to work and/or school! As you might remember from earlier, Bo Hallqvist has stepped down as Head of Educations of Futuregames, but we are pleased to announce that our new Head of Education is Mattias Escudero Liljeqvist! And while they say that a picture tells more than a thousand words, we decided it was best to introduce him properly.
Hello Mattias! Tell us a little bit about what you did before you came to Futuregames.
For the past 7 years, I have worked as a project manager for the organization Kista Science City AB. My overall mission was to promote the location and the ICT-cluster Kista Science City. My focus and responsibilities was talent transfer and regional excellence. To put it in other words: I worked a lot with projects, events and networks to get the city, industry and different schools and universities to cooperate more and better together.
Where does the game industry fit into all of this?
A big part of my previous assignment was to keep up to date with various areas that were relevant for my region and business partners. I started mapping the game development industry quite early and since 2010 I’ve kept up to date to benefit my networks, especially on what has been going on in Stockholm and within IT-development. I also have a personal interest in our gamer culture (mostly within e-sports and cosplay) and I have been creating several non-profit youth organizations and networks. I strongly believe in the potential of our young and tech-savvy generations.
What will you bring to Futuregame?
I believe that I will bring a lot of ambition and a playful energy to Futuregames. I will be working a lot with both the school and the individual students profiles, I believe there is a lot to show. I hope to bring a strong feeling of pride to the school and boost our Swedish games industry with world class developers.
Enough business talk! Let’s talk about games! What kind of games do you like?
I have to admit that I’m mostly drawn to anything new and innovative, I love games in all shapes and sizes. I enjoy looking at, reading about and talking about games, but I rarely stay with one game for long before moving on to something new. I am, however, a old Blizzard -fan and I’m very fond of MOBA type games, right now I play a lot of HotS. I also have a weakness for dystopian RPGs like Metro 2033 and adventures like Final Fantasy. But what I love the most, is to gather a bunch of friends for some fine whiskey, great BBQ and some tactical game of Rainbow Six or Battlefield. 🙂
Thank you for your time, Mattias, and welcome to Futuregames!
