Gamemaker is a 40 week long (part-time) folk high school education that offers knowledge and skills in producing simple digital games. The education targets everyone who has an interest in games and game development. The education is part-time and CSN eligible (student finance). Sunderbyns Folkhögskola is the head of the education.
The concept behind the education is to favor creativity and structured work in projects. The education focuses on production with support from lectures/inspiration and goes by the pedagogy of “learning by doing – learning by reflection”.
The theoretical level of the education is dependent on the students’ understanding and knowledge of and about game production. Regardless of prior knowledge, the attendees will be able to produce at least one board game and two digital games in their group.
Every course offering includes theory, lecturing/inspiration, practical production and presentations. Every course offering is between 2 – 4 hours. Coaching will be given partly at the course offerings and partly digitally between the occasions as agreed between attendee and course leader.
