Starting Your Studies

Welcome to Futuregames—we’re thrilled to have you on board!

Once you are accepted into a program, you will receive a welcome letter from your Head of Education via YH-antagning or via email if you are an international applicant. This letter includes important information about your program, as well as the date for the roll call, which you are required to attend (either on-site or through online registration). The roll call also marks the start of your program introduction.

About 2–4 weeks before the term begins, you will receive a start-up letter with updated details about the roll call and program start. One week before the term starts, you will receive login details for your school account and our IT handbook. It is important to log in to these systems before the term begins.

Roll Call

Attendance at roll call is required to secure your place in the education. The time for roll call is provided in the start-up letter.

Your attendance is also necessary for reporting to CSN (Centrala studiestödsnämnden), which is done after the semester begins. Everyone who attends the roll call will be reported to CSN digitally.

CSN is the government agency that administers student financial aid in Sweden. Your attendance at the roll call is a prerequisite for reporting to CSN. If you are eligible for student financial aid, you must apply for it yourself. You can find more information about CSN on their website.

International Students – Residence permit

Once accepted to Futuregames, you will need to apply for a residence permit for studies in higher education at the Swedish Migration Agency. Residence permit for studies in higher education is only valid for one year.

You will need to apply for a residence permit extension before the expiration of your existing residence permit. Read all about it and apply here.

CSN

A common question before starting your studies is about CSN. Here’s how to apply for student grants:

Apply at csn.se
Indicate the term dates and credits (which you received in the start-up letter)
CSN will ask you to submit a study declaration.

When can I apply for CSN?

What is meant by a study declaration?

The declaration of study is your confirmation to CSN that you are studying. This is usually done on “My Pages” at csn.se by simply pressing a button—no certificates, signatures, or stamps are needed. In special cases, CSN may ask you to submit it in a different way, such as filling out a form, and will provide instructions if needed.

You can send the declaration no earlier than seven days before your course starts.

How many credits are there per study period?

Educational support

If you have a functional variation, you can receive special educational support. At Futuregames, we want to provide equal opportunities for all students to study with us.

Once you have been admitted to a program

Please, contact the education coordinator/head of education if you require special educational support.

Inform us about your support needs

Inform us of your support needs so that we can provide you with the right conditions and determine the necessary support to help you succeed in your studies. We will follow up on the support measures to ensure they have been effective and helpful, allowing you to become more independent in your studies in the long term. The support we provide should be necessary and allow you to study in a comparable way to other students.

As studying with us requires a certain degree of independence, the amount of support you can receive is limited. You will also need a certificate confirming your functional variation, documented by a qualified assessor.

If your need for support is due to a recognized permanent disability, the school may apply for a financial contribution from the Swedish Agency for Higher Education for certain support measures.

You cannot receive educational support to compensate for leave or sick leave, or for support for returning to study after a long absence.
