Futuregames is thrilled to welcome two new members to our education team, adding Juan Gauthier as Head of Education, 3D Artist and Thommy Holmström as Head of Education, Game Designer.
‘Break out of your dimensions’
Juan Gauthier is an accomplished games development professional with an impressive 20-year portfolio that excels in 3D design, and also teaching and mentoring the arts of game development. Previously, Juan led and collaborated with Thommy Holmström at Skanska Teknik in creating visualizations, VR and AR simulations for construction projects using Unreal Engine 4.
Juan advises: “For design students and early-career professionals, actively engaging in areas out of your comfort zone is particularly important, as it will be crucial for your growth“. He added, “’Thinking and doing things outside the box’ is more than just words and where we implement what we have decided for, always.”
‘Learning by Doing and Learning by Reflection’
Thommy Holmström, a top-notch elite of the Unreal Engine 4 is armed with 12 years of extensive knowledge and experience around games design including VR and AR applications. In his role prior to being appointed as Head of Education – Game Design, Thommy taught and mentored agile game development with special emphasis on Unreal Engine 4.
“Never be afraid to make mistakes and don’t ever hold back! Mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. Reflecting, connecting the dots and figuring out why something didn’t work can lead you to a far deeper understanding of a complex system and you end up learning more than you would have if someone had just given you the right answer,” says Thommy.
Futuregames is committed to providing the best game educations in the world. “We are excited to have Juan and Thommy on board with us to hone the next generation of video game talent. This is the most exciting industry of 2021 and the unique perspectives and experiences they bring to Futuregames will continue to support our efforts to meet the ever-changing needs of the gaming industry”, says William Easton, Head of Futuregames.
