LiA is the one-third of the education that is performed in the workplace. In the workplace the theoretical combines with the practicalities of production and gives valuable experience. With guidance and a mentor at the workplace the students get insight into problem-solving, workflow and communication in production.
LiA takes place at the end of their education. Upon completion of their internships, the students are graduated.
Students are free to do their LiA in a country of choice. We have a handful of students every year who go abroad, usually to Germany and The Netherlands, but we’ve also had students as far away as the USA. We offer financial support through the European Union’s Leonardo program to those who do their internship in another EU country.
What companies can expect of our students
Companies hosting LiA students should expect students to be present during normal working hours, that they should work actively and participate in production. The students are at the company to learn a profession in real-life conditions and to form contacts within the industry. They are still students, of course, and require guidance, but they should participate in the work as much as possible.
What we expect of the company
Companies are expected to provide a responsible mentor who will help them get started and provide support during their time at the company. Students should have a place to work at and tasks to complete. Ideally, they should be part of a production team, but the most important thing is that they have meaningful assignments and learn to work in a genuine work environment.
What companies can expect of FutureGames during LiA
We have a time friendly follow-up process that allows you to focus on production. In short our follow-up process exists of following steps:
- Step 1 – About three to four weeks in we contact the LiA company to see if the start has been satisfactory. If all is to wish no further contact is required from our side until Step 2.
- Step 2 – Roughly half-way into the internship we will contact you to set up a LiA visit. During this visit we would like to have an in-depth talk with the mentor as well as with our student(s).
- Step 3 – At the end of LiA, we will contact you to verify if the last few months have gone well and if you are happy with the entire experience.
